Song Lyrics

Break Me and Bless Me
2010

Verse 1
You speak and it’s unclear
My heart is clenched with fear
That what You said is what You really mean.

I cannot answer Yes, Lord,
For my heart, it seeths with greif,
And I cannot make myself believe that You would speak this pain.

Chorus
Through the long night, don’t let go
Though the day breaks, don’t let go
Fight with me, wrestle with me
Never give in to me: break me and bless me.

Verse 2
Your power is unmatched,
Your strength beyond compare,
And You will bring Your will to come to pass.

Still I fear You’ll let me win, Lord,
But I cannot acquiesce
O bitterest Friend, match blow for blow – don’t abandon me to my strength:

Chorus

Bridge
God of Jacob, my Portion, my Passion,
Ladder of Jacob, Who opened the heavens,
Spirit Who came down and who remains:

Peniel, Pen’el, uncover Your Face,
Lead me to Bethel from this desolate place;
My soul thirsts for You, the Living God.

Chorus 2
“In the morning, the fleece was wet,
In the morning, the fleece was dry,
And Moses could not run away from the burning bush.

Come and flood My throne with tears,
Come and match your strength to Mine,
For I will not let you break away from Me.”

Chorus

Laughing Into Me
2010

My God is laughing into me:
 “I know what you don’t know!”
Impatient glee from holy lips
Breaks forth ‘fore secrets show.
“It’s just around the corner, for
Your spring has almost sprung;
Your winter’s almost over, now –
Rejoice with me, my love!

Chorus
Laugh into me, laugh into me, laugh into me again x2
Rejoice with me, rejoice with me, rejoice with me, my love! x2

My God is laughing into me;
I sit in sorrow still.
My soul is sad and lonely yet;
My heart is far from filled.
My God is singing over me:
“My burden, it is light.
All else you carry, lay it down,
And in my love delight!”

My God is laughing into me;
O, why can He not see
How empty and how torn I am,
And weep along with me?
“I hear your cries, I see your tears,
Survey your heart and weep,
But, too, my love, be one with me,
And let your joy be deep.

I feel the crushing weight of heart,
Expel a bitter sigh,
See pounding rain in endless sheets,
Envision no respite.
I feel His laughter ringing deep
And buzzing in my chest
A smile creeps to warm my face
“Laugh into me again.”

My Generation
2005

My generation’s dying ‘cause we don’t know where to stand;
We think that on the rock we are not free.
So we’ve tried to dance on quicksand, and we’re sinkin’ fast, without a prayer…
Oh, that we knew that those who do wait on Your will, O Lord,
Will mount with wings like eagles and soar free,

Chorus
So breathe Your Truth into our lying lips,
Your Love into our broken hearts;
Come heal my generation, Lord, I pray,
‘Cause only You can bring the dead to life,
And only you can save,
And Lord, I’m asking:
Won’t you make a way?

My generation’s dying, ‘cause we’ve never known true love,
Though it’s all we’ve really wanted all our lives.
So we’ve sacrificed our bodies in pursuit of what we thought was love…
But love was when He broke his back walkin’ up that hill,
When for us, Jesus died on Calvary,

My generation’s dying, and I’m tempted to despair
When I see the havoc wreaked on this dark world,
And I’ve tried to play Elijah, sayin’ there’s no hope and I’m alone…
But You tell me there are many who are faithful to your call,
And when we stand with You, then we are strong,
